Meteorology, College of Agriculture, Pune Online published on 2 January, 2017. Abstract The present investigation was conducted in summer 201314 on sesamum (Sesamum indicum L.) at Experimental Farm of Agricultural Meteorology Department, College of Agriculture, Pune, to study the effect of topping management on growth and yield of summer sesamum in relation to weather parameters. The results of the study indicated that all the treatments were significantly influenced. Amongst thetreatments, the treatmenttopping at 30 DAS was significantly superior in number of functional leaves plant−1 (162.8), leaf area plant−1 (11.8 dm2), number of branches plant−1 (11.5), number of capsules plant1 (80.5), dry matter plant−1(21.5 g), seed weightplant−1(4.65 g), weight of capsules plant−1 (34.3 g), grain yield (1033.6 kg ha−1), straw yield (1707.7 kg ha−1), gross monetary returns (82689 Rs. ha−1) and net monetary returns (40309 Rs. ha−1).
