Standardization of Microbunding Methods Suitable for Nutriseed Pack Placement in Wetland Rice

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore to investigate the effect of Nutriseed Pack technique on yield, uptake and nutrient use efficiency of rice under flood water condition during 2015. The experiment conducted of four treatments with four methods of Nutriseed Packs with different pesticides viz., Furadan and Phorate in manure pellet, conventional surface fertilizer application and no fertilizer application (Control) which were replicated thrice in factorial randomized block design. Nutriseed pack is a small tubular assembly (20 mm diameter, 10 cm height), which contains seed at top, manure pellet in the middle and fertilizer pellet at bottom of portions will be packed. The results revealed that microbunding method of drain furrow, microbunding double, microbunding single and plain methods tothe placement in Nutriseed Pack with pesticides of Furadan and Phorate registered remarkably high grain yield of rice which ranged from 5564 to 6650 kg ha−1, 5222 to 6456 kg ha−1, 5967 to 6100 kg ha−1 and 5885 to 6055 kg ha−1 respectively, followed by the conventional surface fertilizer application recorded moderate yield (4491 kg ha−1). The highest grain yields of 6055 and 6650 kg ha−1 recorded with Nutriseed Pack containing Furadan and Phorate under horizontal placement. Enrichment of manure pellet with pesticides tested was Furadan is most effective than Phorate for all microbunding methods applied treatments corresponding trend of results were observed in biometric observations, yield parameters nutrient uptake and nutrient use efficiency.
