Abstract

The experiment on influence of organic manurial treatments on productivity and profitability of ajwain cultivation under Melia dubia based agroforestry system was conducted during 2019–20 at Research farm College of Agriculture, Bheemarayanagudi, UAS, Raichur. The trial was laid out in randomized block design having eight treatments which were replicated three times. Ajwain seeds was sown with a spacing of 45 cm × 10 cm as an inter crop in one and half year old Melia dubia plantation. Plant growth attributes such as plant height, branches and yield parameters like umbel per plant and umbelets per umbels and test weight were recorded at harvest and found significantly higher in sole ajwain crop when compared with treatments in M. dubia tree association. Significantly higher grain yield of ajwain was recorded in sole ajwain crop without M. dubia tree association (8.73 q ha−1) when compared with different treatments in M. dubia based agroforestry system (3.67 to 7.35 q ha−1). In M. dubia tree association, application of vermicompost equivalent to 75% RDN with foliar spray of panchagavya @ three per cent resulted in maximum grain yield (7.35) than others except application of sheep manure equivalent to 75% RDN along with foliar spray of panchagavya @ 3% (6.60 q ha−1) and application of vermicompost equivalent to 100% RDN (6.54 q ha−1). No organic manurial treatment registered lower grain yield (3.67) than the rest of the treatments. Similar trend was followed in stalk yield and biological yield and net returns.
