Enzymatic activity and microflora population influenced by integrated nutrient management in haplustepts

Abstract

To understand the effects of integrated nutrient management on enzymatic activity and population of micro-flora, a field experiment was conducted in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. Biological analysis revealed that maximum dehydrogenase activity and micro-flora (bacteria and fungi) population recorded with the sole application of poultry manure @ 5 t ha−1, 75% of recommended dose of fertilizers (RDF) and combined application of Azotobacter + phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) over rest of treatments. These results imply that organic manures as well as increasing level of nutrients trigger the dehydrogenase activity and micro-flora populations. Overall, results would indicate that application of organic manures, inorganic fertilizers and biofertilizers affects soil biological properties.
