A review of various facets of farmer producer organisations: Opportunity for farmers' growth Gupta Anchal*, Kumar Babita School of Business Studies, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana-141004 *Email: guptaanchal72@yahoo.in
Online Published on 29 January, 2022. Abstract This paper presents a review of the various facets of FPOs. FPOs are a form of collective which have been thoughtfully promoted by governments throughout the world to overcome the problems of small and medium farmers. There had been a mixed result of these organisations in the socio-economic upliftment of member farmers. India adopted this concept in 2003 with the similar view. Presently it targets to have at least 10,000 FPOs by 2022. Some FPOs promoted earlier by NABARD, SFAC, private agencies like NGOs are doing a good job by enhancing the farmer income whereas some are still struggling for survival. The need is to provide a strong handholding to these FPOs so that the faith reposed by the farmers in them is strengthened. Top | | |
