Effect of Different Spacing and Fertilizer Level on Incidence of Fruiting Body and Locule Damage and on Yield in Bt Cotton

Abstract

Field experiments were conducted to study effect of different spacing and fertilizer level on incidence of fruiting body damage in Bt cotton. The lowest per cent fruiting body damage was found in spacing 120x45 cm (18518 plant/ha) at 45(2.01%), 60 (2.90%), 75 (3.10%), 90(4.20%), 105(5.15%), 120 (2.14%), 135 (2.60%) and 150 (3.00%) DAS. In case of fertilizer level the less damage of fruiting body per cent recorded in 120: 60: 60 NPK kg/ha at 45 (1.96%), 60 (2.30%), 75(3.40%), 90(4.15%), 105(5.35%), 120(2.30%), 135(2.50%) and 150(2.60%) DAS. The lowest per cent of locule damage at harvest (3.01%) was found in spacing 150x30 cm (22222 plant/ha). The highest per cent locule damage (3.66%) in spacing 90x60 cm (18518 plant/ha). In case of fertilizer level lowest per cent locule damage (3.14%) was recorded in 120: 60: 60 NPK kg/ha. In case of yield the maximum yield was recorded in spacing 120+60x30 cm (13.50qt/ha). which was followed by spacing 150x30 cm (11.00 qt/ha), 120x45 (10.50 qt/ha) and lowest yield recorded in spacing 180x30 cm (9.50qt/ha). The maximum yield was recorded in fertilizer level 180: 90: 90: NPK kg/ha (12.20 qt/ha) followed by 150: 75: 75 NPK kg/ha (10.9 qt/ha) and lowest yield recorded in fertilizer 120: 60: 60 NPK kg/ha (10.5 qt/ha).
