Abstract

Libraries are service oriented institutions established in societies to provide various information based services. Nature of these services depends upon the category and nature of the library users. In this modern era services are provided electronically by libraries to library users. Development of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is playing a vital role in renovation of libraries and influenced each and every facet of libraries and information centers. ICT use helps to facilitate easy access to electronic information for research and learning purposes. The present paper highlights the objectives, components, types and characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, ICT and library professionals. ICT based services of the library are also highlighted
