Quest for Speedy Investigation and Trial: Interrelation of Medicine and Law Md. Ali Ayub Lecturer, Department of Law and Justice, Southeast University, Banani, Dhaka, Bangladesh Online published on 6 August, 2014. Abstract The more the investigation will delay, the more the procedure of trial will prolong fading the possibility of getting justice. Only a proper and prompt investigation based on both legal and scientific evidence can accelerate the trial procedure. However, it is a great challenge for the law enforcing agencies to conduct a meaningful investigation taking the aid of forensic medicine experts. This is because of the want of an institutional mechanism establishing a nexus between law and medicine. This paper aims at depicting the real scenario of how effectively the principles and norms of the forensic medicine are used in Bangladesh to administer justice as well as the major challenges the law enforcing agencies and the lawyers are facing in dealing with the medico-legal cases and the way out to overcome those. Top Keywords Forensic medicine, medical evidence, autopsy, inquest investigation, death, CODIS, AFIS. Top | |
