Abstract

The journey of extracting the behavioural use pattern in library services has travelled more than 100 years just starting from statistical bibliography to bibliometrics and then from bibliometrics to bibliomining through data mining. Bibliomining is associated with the use of data mining to examine library data records usage. It is the application of data mining and bibliometric tools to data produced from library services, which can be used to improve the existing library services. This paper briefs about the difference exist between bibliometrics and bibliomining and the concept of bibliomining along with its uses in library and information centres.
