Abstract

Euphorbia thymifolia Linn. also known as Laghududhika in Sanskrit is an indigenous and native herb of India. This herb is traditionally claimed to possess several medicinal properties and was specifically used to treat bowel and dermatological diseases. Various phytochemical and pharmacological properties of E. thymifolia were studied and proved to have great efficacy as a potential antioxidant, antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-hyperglycaemic, anti-asthmatic and anti-hyperlipidemic properties. This review discusses the phytochemical and pharmacological aspects of Euphorbia thymifolia.
