Abstract

An attempt has been made in this study to examine the economics of production and marketing of buckwheat in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh. The present study was conducted in Mainpat block in Surguja district of Chattisgarh state. One fifty farmers were selected in Mainpat. Out of 150 farmers, 32 marginal, 36 small, 38 medium and 44 large farmers were selected. The primary data were collected for the year 2015–2016. On an average the marketable surplus was found about 11.02 quintals. Study suggested that the government should make adequate arrangement for supply of quality seeds and other inputs at reasonable prices and marketing infrastructure should be improved, the government should promote co-operative societies and banking agencies must be improved to meet credit requirement Government should also encourage partnership between research institutes, agricultural universities, NGO's and private industries to address the constraints and help the buckwheat growers to reach the markets.
