Abstract By delving into the psychological underpinnings of online prosocial behaviour, this paper aims to enhance the ongoing movement in understanding the mechanisms and motivations that drive individuals to engage in prosocial acts through different approaches. Each approach offers unique perspectives on the mechanisms, motivations, and influences that shapes prosocial behaviour in an online environment. They provide frameworks for studying and explaining the complex nature of online prosocial behaviour, shedding light on the factors that drive individuals to help others. The paper contributes to the existing research by enhancing the comprehension of the intricate interplay among motivations, cognitive processes, and social factors that drive online prosocial behaviour across various contexts.
