Abstract

Laboratory bioassay was conducted to find out the allelopathic effect of three accessions of Jatropha curcas on four field crops viz., Triticum aestivum, Brassica juncea, Sesamum orientale and Vigna mungo. The level of inhibition of the aqueous leaf extract of J. curcas varied with its accessions and type of tested field crops. The tolerance of the crops was in the order of V. mungo>T. aestivum>B. juncea>S. orientale. Invariably, maximum inhibition was observed in the higher concentrations of aqueous extract.
