Abstract Just as information and communication technology (ICT) has diffused in many spheres of life, it has also revolutionized the agriculture sector. The critical challenges in the agriculture sector, like lack of infrastructure and market information, employment problems, financial inaccessibility and effective disaster management techniques, are addressed with the help of ICT initiatives. The paper covers a detailed study of two ICT initiatives, namely, Warana and iKisan in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh known to be the major agrarian states of India. The study is based upon the secondary information collected from various research articles and websites of the respective projects. With the help of a detailed study of the major ICT projects, we can bring forward a strategy for their effective execution and implementation in the targeted areas.
