Acoustic Neuroma of Brain - Report From a Post Mortem Case Kumar Vijay1, Bhagat Ranjeev2, Bal Manjit S.3, OBEROI S S4 1Associate Professor Department of Pathology, GMC, Patiala 2Junior Resident Department of Pathology, GMC, Patiala 3Professor & Head Department of Pathology, GMC, Patiala 4Associate Professor Dept. of Forensic Medicine, GMC, Patiala Abstract Acoustic neuroma is a benign intracranial tumor of the myelin-forming cells of the vestibulocochlear nerve. It comprises 5–10% of all intracranial neoplasm in adults. Incidence peaks in the fifth and sixth decades and both sexes are affected. Incidence of acoustic neuromas in postmortem cases is 0.8%. The best tests to diagnose acoustic neuroma are audiometry and MRI scanning of the head with gadolinium contrast. Incidence of occult acoustic neuroma is as low as 1% in the literature. We are reporting a case of Acoustic neuroma of Brain in a post mortem case of a prisoner. Top | | | |
