Role of UGC-HRD centres training programmes for professional development of library and information professionals

Abstract

This paper attempts to find out the role of University Grants Commission Human Resource Development (UGC-HRD) centers training programmes particularly orientation, refresher and short term courses for professional development of Library professionals in India. The study conducted through online mailing group ILOSC to collect data for this study. The results were analyzed by using simple statistical methods. The study further identified barriers to attend training programmes and suggestions to strengthen the UGC-HRD centers to offer effective training programmes relevant to the contemporary digital era.
