Abstract

Physico-chemical characters are of prime importance for assessment of water to assess its suitability for drinking purpose, fisheries and agricultural sector. The research area selected for the study was Nautghat of Betwa river in Bundelkhand region. Various parameters like temperature, pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, total alkalinity, hardness, nitrate, phosphate, TDS, BOD and COD were examined at regular interval for two years from July 2017 to June 2019. The results indicated that though the anthropogenic pollution load increased, the situation was under control, and the river water was suitable for irrigation, fisheries and also for drinking purpose after standard treatment.
