Role of Grading Technology of Yellow Capsicum in Enhancing the Farmers Income under Polyhouse Condition Hasure R.R., Nawadkar D.S., Kharbade S.B. Abstract An investigation entitled “Response of coloured capsicum to nutrients and pruning management under polyhouse condition” was conducted at Instructional Farm of Post Graduate Institute, MPKV, Rahuri, (Ahmednagar) (MS) during 2009-10 and 2010-11 to study the agro meteorological parameters of coloured capsicum F1 hybrid Orbelle (Yellow) in relation to nutrients and pruning management. The experiment was carried out in split plot design with four replications and nine treatment combinations consisted of three levels of fertigation schedules viz; F1:(100:35:50:35:2.5 ppm N:P:K:Ca:Mg before and 50: 25: 125:25:2.5 ppm N:P:K:Ca:Mg after flowering), F2: (200:70:100:70: 5.0 ppm N:P:K:Ca:Mg before and 100:50:250:50:5.0 ppm N:P:K:Ca:Mg after flowering), F3: (300:105:150:105:7.5 ppm N:P:K:Ca:Mg before and 150:75: 375:75:7.5 ppm N: P: K:Ca:Mg after flowering) and three levels of pruning management techniques viz; C1:two, C2 : three and C3 :four branches plant-1.The recommended packages of practices were followed. The combination of F3 fertigation schedule and four branches plant-1 pruning management technique significantly improved the micro meteorological parameters and physiological parameters than other treatment combinations at most of the crop growth stages. Agriculture system has two basic elements i.e., Production and Marketing. The Marketing is an important as that of production. Any single activity performed in carrying a product from the points it’s production to the ultimate consumer is marketing function for example assembling, buying, selling, transportation, grading and standardization, packing, risk bearing etc., Fruits, vegetables and agronomic crops within the same variety shows considerable in quality due genetic, environmental and agronomic factors. Grading is necessary to get suitable returns related with quality. Grades are based on soundness, firmness, cleanliness, size, colour, shape, maturity mechanical injury, diseases and pest infection. For International Market generally three grades are considered as-Extra class, Class 1st,Class 2nd.The extra class is of superior quality with 5% tolerance limit. Class 1st produces almost the same quality as extra but with 10% tolerance limit. Class second grade may exhibit some external or internal defects provided they are fit for consumption while fresh. This class is best fitted for local or short distance market. This grade is best suited for the consumers for whom price is more important than quality. It can be concluded from the above results that, the combination of F3 fertigation schedule with keeping of four branches plant-1 helps in development of favourable micrometeorological condition in polyhouse which in turn gives the higher quality yields and returns from yellow capsicum under polyhouse when graded properly.
