Prevalence, Knowledge and Practice on Prevention of Cervical Cancer Among Women in Selected Communities

Abstract

A study assessed the prevalence, knowledge and practice regarding prevention of cervical cancer among women in selected rural communities. Totally 176 samples were selected by convenient sampling technique. Prevalence of cervical cancer was assessed by PAP smear test, knowledge and practice was assessed by using structured questionnaire regarding cervical cancer by interview method. The study finding revealed that among 176 samples, 26(16.5%) were had chronic inflammation in cervix and none of the samples were found to have positive for cervical cancer and knowledge and practice of the samples in rural communities were inadequate and there is a need to improve the knowledge regarding prevention of cervical cancer. After the data collection health education was given regarding prevention of cervical cancer by using f lashcards.
