Online published on 14 October, 2011. Abstract Indirect organogenesis was exploited through callus induction and in-vitro regeneration was achieved in Asparagus racemosus. The vigor of cultivars regenerated from callus cultures was higher as compared to plant regenerated from seeds. The effects of different concentration of Thidiazuron (TDZ) on induction and growth of callus of Asparagus were studied. Calluses grew more rapidly on Murashige and Skoog's (MS) basal medium supplemented with 0.4 mg/l TDZ as compared to the same medium with low (0.2 mg/l) concentration or high (1 mg/l) concentration of TDZ. The nodal explants were treated with different concentrations of TDZ for both callus induction and shoot development. Callus induction was recoded in all treatments tried, however, only 45%showed organogenesis. Top Keywords Callus, induction, Asparagus racemosus. Top |
