Abstract The study examines the use of online cataloguing tools by library personnel in the south-west geo-political zone of Nigeria. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design using questionnaire as the instrument for extracting information on the use of online cataloguing tools. The responses were analysed using descriptive statistics, which includes frequency counts, percentages, as well as bars and charts. The outcome shows that a large percentage of the respondents make use of the Library of Congress online cataloguing tool as against the other listed tools. Other outcome shows the benefits derived from and challenges faced with the use of the tools. The outcome was considered useful. The paper concludes with recommendations on the need for library management boards to put structures in place that will enhance the use of online cataloguing tools by the library personnel with little or no challenges and also find a means of overcoming the challenges reported by the study.
