Knowledge on Prevention of Occupational Health Hazards and Utilization of Safety Measures Sulochana Sasi1, Viola Mary2 1Reader, Christian College of Nursing, Neyyoor 2Principal, Alady Aruna College Of Nursing, Thirunelveli District Online published on 23 May, 2017. Abstract Protecting the employees from occupational hazard is the goal of occupational health. A descriptive study was conducted among workers of industry to assess the knowledge on prevention of occupational health hazards and utilization of safety measures. Majority of the workers 50% had good level of knowledge, 52% of them had good safety practices. Mean knowledge score was 35.6 (S.D. 2.5) and 100% of them had known the purpose of caution board, and the first aid for chemical splashing into the eye. Mean Utilization score was 34.9 (S.D. 3.5). Fifty two percent samples always utilized drinking water, canteen, occupational health center, recreational facilities and 93% utilized helmet. The study showed significant positive correlation r= 0.3, p<0.05 between knowledge on prevention of occupational health hazards and utilization of safety measures among workers.
