Abstract

Ministry of New & Renewable Energy announced policy for biofuel, starting from 2011–12, stating that 20% of the diesel demand would be met by biodiesel, primarily produced from Jatropha plant biomass. The objective of present study is to find out scattering of research literature by examining productivity of journals publishing papers on Jatropha research and application of verbal and graphical formulations of Bradford's Law. The study is based on 4111 research papers published in 1097 journals during 1986–2016 on Jatropha. The four most productive countries namely India, China, Brazil and Malaysia have contributed 1148, 498, 490 and 393 research papers respectively. The distribution of the journals in three zones was made for, five data set; overall data, India, China, Brazil and Malaysia. The verbal as well as graphical formulations of Bradford's law were found applicable on the five data sets. However, the graphical formulation differed from the classical curve as it had no ‘Groos drop’ at the end of curve for all five data sets.
