Abstract The present study was undertaken to assess the impact of the Gujarat Ambuja Cement Industry (at Darlaghat in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh) on the livestock systems. The impact was studied separately for fuel and fodder resources alongwith the availability of non-timber forest products and water. The strategic issues have been discussed in detail in the present paper. Policy formulation is suggested for most sensitive and strategically integration of future industrial packages with ecological needs of the state.
