Testing of power transformers Sivakumar S., Jaikhan J. Electrical Maintenance Section, IGCAR, Kalpakkam Online published on 3 October, 2018. Abstract Transformers form the back bone of power system network. The life of the transformer depends on the life of solid insulating materials. While procuring oil immersed transformer for any industry the technical specifications, marking, tapings, method of testing are specified in latest revision of IS2026 and the corresponding IEC60076. It is essential to test the transformer at the time of procurement and record the results for estimating the residual life of the transformer as a data base. Generally the testing is classified as (1) Type test (2) Routine tests (3) Acceptance test and (4) special tests. This paper focuses various tests which are required to be done on 1 MVA, 6.6 kV/433 V transformer in the manufacturer works, method of testing and the significance of each testing. Top Keywords Dielectric testing, Temperature rise, Dissolved gas analysis & Furan Analysis. Top |
