Abstract

Glaucoma is ranked second amongst the causes of irreversible blindness worldwide. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a global public health concern with numerous microvascular complications. There is increasing evidence to suggest that diabetic patients have greater risk of glaucoma as well. This review article discusses the pathogenesis of glaucoma especially when associated with diabetes mellitus and how this knowledge can help decrease the burden of loss of vision in diabetic patients due to Glaucoma.
