Still, plant materials are playing a major source of new active molecular entities. The compounds of medicinal plants are complex in nature. Simple monomeric constituents should be obtained through various processes of extraction and isolation in order to identify the structure and bioactivity. Recently, efficient procedures for extraction, isolation and structure identification of plant products are available which enables the quick analysis of phytocompounds from herbal sources. The intend of this article is to offer a broad view on new technologies being followed in the extraction, isolation and structure elucidation of active moieties from the various medicinal plants.
