Abstract The overall development of an individual depends on the variety of capabilities that the concerned individual has acquired. Capabilities include a variety of skills that helps and individual to take advantage of the surrounding environment that the concerned individual is living in (Sen. A, 1999). The set of skills that the individual has acquired decides the level of quality or level of deprivation that the individual is experiencing. To avoid deprivation or to alleviate the level of deprivation an individual has to acquire different skills that can protect her from the insecurities that results from the surrounding environment. Education is one such tool which helps an individual to become capable – socially, economically and politically. The level of schooling or education decides the range of capabilities that an individual has acquired – the higher the educational levels the higher the capabilities.
