Abstract

Fifteen potato cultivars were evaluated for tuber yield and other yield attributing characters at High Altitude Research Substation, SKUAST-K Larnoo, Anantnag (J&K) in the field trials. Variety PP-2500 produced the highest tuber yield (408.15 qha−1) and number of tubers per plant (11.33) followed by Kufri Jyoti. Variety PP-48 recorded maximum tuber weight (88.8 g) followed by PP-2500 (84.5 g) while tuber size was maximum in Kufri Jyoti (5.81 cm diameter) followed by Chandramukhi (5.54 cm). The lowest late blight disease severity was recorded for PP-8 and PP-2500 and thus proved to be moderately resistant to late blight. On the basis of yield and other economic characteristics, the variety PP-2500 was identified as potential genotype and could be recommended for growing in high altitude areas of Kashmir valley.
